The employee of the Emergency Situations Management Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs – 25-year-old Tornike Kiparoidze, who tragically died a few days ago during a fire extinguishing operation, was escorted from the Batumi Cathedral church by an honor guard.
The Minister of Internal Affairs - Vakhtang Gomelauri, together with the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs - Vladimer Bortsvadze and the Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara - Tornike Rizhvadze expressed their condolences to the family, employees and relatives of the late firefighter-rescuer who died while fulfilling his official duties.
"First of all, let me express my condolences to the family. He was indeed an exceptional young man, who will be missed by his family, our service, and homeland.
People that stand here are true heroes because each and every one of them can sacrifice their lives for the safety of our citizens. Unfortunately, this case is an example of my words. He was a good person, a good son, and a husband, who will be missed. Let me reiterate our deepest condolences to the family”- stated Minister of Internal Affairs, Vakhtang Gomelauri.
Along with the Minister of Internal Affairs, the head of the Emergency Situations Management Service - Teimuraz Mghebrishvili, his deputy - Levan Ghirsiashvili and the head of the Fire and Rescue Department - Davit Sukhishvili arrived in Batumi to pay tribute to the hero fire-rescuer. The late fire-rescuer was escorted to his final path by colleagues from various cities and representatives of the administration of the Emergency Situations Management Service.
Tornike Kiparoidze was buried with military honors. The guard of honor paid tribute to his memory with a special salute and handed over the Georgian state flag to the family of the deceased.
Tornike Kiparoidze was on call on February 11, when he fell down the fire ladder. Despite the intervention of doctors, unfortunately, he could not be saved.
The young fire-rescuer has worked at the Emergency Situations Management Service with outstanding courage since last year. In 2014-2018, he served in the Defense Forces. Participated in the Afghanistan Peacekeeping Mission in 2017-2018.
Tornike Kiparoidze was awarded with medal "For Participation in the Peacekeeping Mission". He has a wife and an under-aged child.
