At the administration of the government, Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Gharibashvili nominated Vakhtang Gomelauri on the post of the Minister of Internal Affairs. Up to date, Vakhtang Gomelauri was the first Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs. He replaced Aleksandre Tchikaidze on the post of Minister of Internal Affairs.
"Mr. Gomelauri is distinguished by his professionalism, integrity, selflessness, commitment to his duties and country, and steadfastness. It is a very responsible position, and Gomelauri understands its importance, as it is one of the most difficult fields. Gomelauri is no stranger to the Interior Ministry; he has served as First Deputy Minister for two years and in different capacities even earlier. We all wish him success. I am convinced that Vakhtang Gomelauri will succeed in handling his duties and will spare no effort to meet the expectations of our government and the people”- Irakli Garibashvili stated while nominating Vakhtang Gomelauri as a new Minister of Interior.
In turn, new Minister of Interior Vakhtang Gomelauri thanked the Prime Minister for his trust. “I’ll do my best to justify your trust and hope of people."
"I am thoroughly familiar with the Ministry of Interior. I have spent more than half of my work experience in this ministry. In the past two years, I have led several departments. I will do my best to meet your expectations," Vakhtang Gomelauri stated.
