The officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs seized illegal firearms and ammunition in Tbilisi, Guria and Imereti regions. 6 persons have been detained as a result of operative-investigative measures and investigative activities.
The officers of Vake-Saburtalo Main Division under Tbilisi Police Department under the Ministry of Internal Affairs have detained L.Z. (DoB 1991), convicted of various crimes in the past, on charges of illegal purchase, storage and carrying of firearms and ammunition. During the personal search of the detainee and residential apartment, law enforcement officers seized Makarov firearms, ammunition and 15 cartridges as evidence.
The officers of Guria Police Department arrested J.J. (DoB 1963), on charges of illegal purchase and storage of firearms and ammunition. He was arrested in one of the villages of Chokhatauri municipality. During the search held in J.J.'s home, police seized Kalashnikov assault rifle, a Winchester-type shotgun, a magazine and 20 cartridges as evidence.
The officers of Ozurgeti Police Division of the same department arrested Z.G. (DoB 1968), on charges of illegal purchase and storage of firearms and ammunition. During the search of the accused's house, two-barrel hunting rifle, a revolver and 15 ammunition cartridges were seized as evidence.
The officers of Imereti, Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti Police Department detained previously convicted D.A. (DoB 1993) in Zestaponi for illegal purchase and storage of firearms and ammunition. As a result of the search activities held in detainee’s residential venue Kalashnikov assault rifle, a pistol, two magazines and 30 cartridges.
The officers of Zugdidi and Tsalenjikha Police Divisions of Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti Police Department detained G.M. (DoB 1974) convicted in past for murder and previously convicted for theft - V.K. (DoB 1967) on charges of illegal purchase-storage-carrying of firearms and ammunition. Police seized 2 pistols, a magazine and cartridges as evidence as a result of a personal search activities and search held in their vehicle.
The committed crime envisions from 3 to 7 years of imprisonment.
The facts of illegal purchase, storage and carrying of firearms and ammunition are investigated under the Article 236, III and IV parts of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
