Employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as a result of the operative-search measures and investigative actions conducted in the recent period, seized firearms and ammunition in Tbilisi and the regions of the country and arrested 6 persons.
Employees of Didube-Chugureti Police Main Division of Tbilisi Police Department, detained previously convicted R. Kh. (DoB 1983) for illegal purchase and possession of firearms. As a result of the search of the house of the accused persons, police seized 2 firearms as evidence.
The employees of the patrol police department arrested L.K. (DoB 1985), during his personal search policemen seized a firearm as evidence.
Employees of Lentekhi Police District Division of Imereti, Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti Police Department arrested R.R. (DoB1999) for illegal purchase-keeping-carrying of firearms and ammunition.
As a result of the search of the vehicle under the control of R.R., police seized an automatic firearms of "AKS" and "AKM" models, 2 magazines and 30 cartridges as evidence.
Z.B. (DoB 1959) was arrested by the employees of Gori regional division under Shida Kartli Police Department for illegal purchase and possession of firearms. As a result of the search conducted in the house of the detainee based on the judge's ruling, the police seized an "AKS 74" automatic firearm as evidence, as well as dried "marijuana".
Previously convicted E.Kh. (DoB 1990) was detained by the employees of Ozurgeti regional division of Guria police department for illegal purchase and storage of firearms. As a result of the search of his residential house, the police seized a revolver as evidence.
The employees of Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti Police Department and the Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti Division of the Investigative Service under the Ministry of Finance, as a result of jointly conducted operational measures and investigative actions detained G.sh (DoB 1962) for illegal purchase and storage of firearms and ammunition. During the search of G.S.'s residential house, law enforcement officers seized a revolver and 3 cartridges as evidence.

The investigation into the facts of illegal purchase, storage and carrying of firearms and ammunition is being conducted under the Article 236, parts III and IV of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
