Employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as a result of recently held operative-search measures and investigative actions seized illegal firearms and ammunition in Tbilisi and regions of the country - 14 persons were arrested.
The employees of the main division of the Central Criminal Police Department for the fight against organized crime, as a result of operational measures and investigative actions, detained three persons convicted of various crimes in the past - B.A. born in 1981, N.V. born in 1972. and G.I., born in 1992 on charges of illegal acquisition and possession of firearms.
During the search of B.A.'s residence, the law enforcement officers seized a pistol and 16 cartridges as evidence, while a pistol, a muzzle and 20 cartridges were recovered from N.V.'s house. As for G.I., law enforcement officers, as a result of his personal search, removed a pistol, 2 muzzles and 8 cartridges as evidence.
As a result of joint measures, the employees of the Main Investigation Division and the Main Detective Division of the Tbilisi Police Department arrested J.K., born in 1976. He was arrested on charges of illegal acquisition and possession of firearms. As a result of the personal search of the accused, the law enforcement officers recovered a firearm, a muzzle and 6 cartridges as evidence.
The employees of Vake-Saburtalo main division also arrested G.K born in 1984 in Tbilisi on charges of illegal purchase, storage and carrying of firearms. During the search of the detainee's car, a Makarov system firearm, muzzle and 6 cartridges were recovered as evidence. On the same charge, the employees of the main division of Vake-Saburtalo arrested N. Ch., born in 1999. During the search of his apartment, the police recovered a firearm, a muzzle and 6 cartridges.
The employees of Imereti Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti Police Departments, Lentekhi District Division, Oni District Division and Kutaisi City Division, as a result of operational measures and investigative activities carried out at different times, arrested 3 persons on charges of illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.
During the search of the residence of A.L., born in 1957, the employees of the Lentekhi district division seized an automatic firearm, a muzzle and 10 cartridges as evidence. From the residence of I.C., born in 1979, the employees of the Oni district division also removed an automatic firearm, a muzzle and 12 cartridges.
As for JB, born in 1950, arrested by the Kutaisi City Division, convicted of various crimes in the past, the police carried out a controlled purchase of weapons and a secret audio-video recording of the aforementioned purchase, thus confirming the fact of illegal sale of firearms by the detainee. The employees of the Kutaisi city division took as evidence the automatic firearm sold by the accused and 115 cartridges, the money taken from the sale of weapons, as well as a silent pistol and a "Gekko" type rifle.
The employees of the Akhalkalaki district division, as a result of investigative actions based on operational information, arrested R.M. born in 1985 for illegal purchase and storage of firearms and ammunition. Law enforcement officers, during the search of the defendant's residence, seized an automatic firearm as evidence.
Employees of Kakheti Police Department, arrested G.A born in 1968 on charges of illegal purchase and storage of firearms and ammunition. As a result of the search conducted by the police in one of the villages of the Gurjaani municipality, based on the judge's ruling, in the house of the detainee, an automatic firearm, a muzzle and 67 cartridges were removed as evidence.
Employees of Kvemo Kartli Police Department, arrested Sh.Kh born in 1964 and G.P., born in 1984 on charges of illegal purchase and storage of firearms and ammunition.
As a result of the search conducted by the judge's ruling in Sh.Kh's residence, the law enforcement officers seized two firearms and 106 ammunition cartridges as evidence.
As a result of the search conducted in GP's residence, a pistol, two cartridges, a "Gecko" type rifle, and a hunting rifle were recovered as evidence.
Also, on the charge of illegal purchase and storage of firearms and ammunition, the employees of the Adjara Police Department arrested O.F., born in 1988, convicted in the past.
As a result of the search conducted in the residence of O.F. in Batumi, the law enforcement officers recovered a firearm and three cartridges as evidence.
Crimes are punishable by 3 to 9 years of imprisonment.
The investigation into the facts of illegal purchase and storage, carrying and selling of firearms and ammunition is being conducted under the 3rd, 4th and 5th parts of Article 236 of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
