As a result of operative and investigative activities, the officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs detained 8 people for illegal purchase, storage and carrying of firearms and ammunition in Tbilisi, Mtskheta-Mtianeti and Shida Kartli regions.
Illegal firearms and ammunition were seized as evidence by the law enforcers.
The officers of the Central Criminal Police Department arrested previously convicted G.I.(DoB 1975), as a result of operative-investigative activities. During search activities held in detainee's apartment, police seized “Nagan” firearm and 14 cartridges.
The officers of the Patrol Police Department, as a result of investigative activities, arrested S.O. (DoB1984), on probation for illegal purchase and storage of firearms. During the personal search of the detainee, the law enforcers seized “TT” firearm, cartridges and 5 magazines as evidence.
The officers of Vake-Saburtalo Main Division under Tbilisi Police Department have detained A.M. (DoB 1995), convicted of various crimes in the past, on charges of illegal purchase, storage and carrying of firearms and ammunition. Police seized “Makarov” pistol and nine cartridges during a search of the detainee's vehicle, held on the basis of the relevant court decision.
The officers of Tbilisi Police Department arrested A.J., (DoB 1985), for a similar crime. Police seized a pistol, a revolver as well as 25 cartridges as a result of the search held in his apartment.
The officers of Tbilisi Police Department's main investigation division also arrested R.K. (DoB1978) and K.K. (DoB 1969), on charges of illegal purchase and storage of firearms and ammunition.
During the search of R.K's apartment, law enforcement officers seized 1 “Smith Wesson” revolver and 23 cartridges, during search activities held in K.K’s house “CZ” pistol and a magazine have been seized as evidence.
The officers of Kaspi District Division of Shida Kartli Police Department and the Central Criminal Police Department detained previously convicted A.K. (DoB 1984), as a result of joint operative and investigative activities for illegal purchase-storage-carrying of firearms and ammunition. During the search of the vehicle owned by the accused person, the law enforcers seized “Nagan" firearm and 7 cartridges as evidence.
On the fact of illegal storage of firearms, the officers of Mtskheta-Mtianeti Police Department, within the framework of operative investigative activities, arrested K.L. (DoB1988) in Saguramo. During the search of the detainee's apartment, the police seized a pistol with magazine, 2 cartridges and 10 cartridges of a small caliber rifle.
The committed crime envisions from 4 to 7 years of imprisonment.
The facts of illegal purchase, storage and carrying of firearms and ammunition are being investigated under Article 236, III and IV parts of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
