Employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as a result of the operative-search measures and investigative activities carried out in recent period, removed illegal weapons and ammunition in Tbilisi and regions of the country.
15 persons have been arrested on charges of illegal purchase, storage and possession of firearms and ammunition.
The committed crime envisions from 3 to 7 years of imprisonment.
As a result of operational search and investigative activities conducted by the employees of the particularly important affairs division under the main division of MIA Central Criminal Police Department and the search division of the same main division, G.G. (DoB 1980) was arrested. During the search of G.G's residential place, the law enforcement officers seized an automatic firearm, a silencer, a magazine and 23 cartridges as evidence.
As a result of joint measures, the employees of the Main Investigative Division and the Detectives Division under Tbilisi Police Department, M.K. (DoB 2000) was arrested on the charge of illegal purchase-storage-carrying of firearms. As a result of the personal search of M.K. the police seized a pistol, a magazine and 16 cartridges as evidence.
The employees of Ozurgeti regional division of Guria Police Department detained K.B.(DoB1964) During the search held in detainee’s house, 2 firearms, 4 magazines and 35 cartridges were seized as evidence.
The employees of Marneuli police division of Kvemo Kartli Police Department detained A.M. (DoB 2004). As a result of the personal search of the accused person, the law enforcement officers recovered a pistol and 5 cartridges as evidence.
The employees of Batumi Police Division of Adjara Police Department detained previously convicted N.A. (DoB 1991). As a result of the search of the apartment, an automatic firearm and 30 cartridges were seized as evidence.
The employees of Sagarejo, Kvareli and Gurjaani regional divisions of Kakheti Police Department, as a result of investigative actions conducted at different times, arrested three persons. During the search of N.S. (DoB 1993) and the warehouses, police removed 4 hand grenades and 5 explosives as evidence. During the search of the house of V.O. (DoB 1991), an automatic firearm was seized as evidence. And, during the search activities held in the house of G.N. (DoB 1967), the police seized a hunting rifle with cut barrel and 5 cartridges.
Employees of Tsageri, Terjoli, Zestafoni district divisions and Kutaisi city division of Imereti, Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti police department, arrested 4 people as a result of operational measures and investigative actions conducted at different times. From previously convicted N.O. born in 1979, as a result of a personal search police seized a sawed-off rifle. During the search of the residential place of T.M. (DoB 1957), the police seized an automatic firearm, 5 magazines, 200 ammunition cartridges and a hand grenade as evidence. As a result of the search of the residence of M.M. (DoB 1979), a sawed-off hunting rifle, a pistol and 40 cartridges were recovered as evidence. And, as a result of the search of the residence of K.U. (DoB 1983), the law enforcement officers recovered - Mauser and Makarov pistols, 2 magazines, 5 cartridges and 5 capsule-detonators as evidence.
As a result of operational measures and investigative actions conducted at different times, the employees of Mestia regional division of Samegrelo Zemo-Svaneti Police Department detained 3 persons - M.K. (DoB 1963), M.C. (DoB1982) and G.J. (DoB 1969) for illegal purchase-storage-carrying of firearms and ammunition. As a result of the personal search, and search activities held in detainee’s vehicle and residential house, the law enforcement officers recovered 3 automatic firearms, 3 magazines, 2 rifles, a machine gun and 93 cartridges as evidence.
The investigation into the facts of illegal purchase, storage and carrying of firearms and ammunition are being conducted under Article 236 III and IV parts of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
