As a result of operative and investigative activities carried out at different times, the officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs seized illegal firearms and ammunition in Tbilisi, Kakheti, Samegrelo and Imereti. Six people were detained.
The officers of Vake-Saburtalo Police Main Division of Tbilisi Police Department arrested formerly convicted G.S. (DoB in 1985) in Tbilisi for illegal purchase and storage of firearms.
During the search of the detainee's apartment, based on the judge's decision, the law enforcers seized 2 different types of firearms and 15 cartridges as evidence.
The officers of Adjara Police Department arrested K.A. (DoB 1989) in Batumi on charges of illegal purchase, storage and carrying of firearms and ammunition. During the personal search of the accused person, the law enforcers seized a pistol and 5 cartridges as evidence.
The officers of Telavi Police District Division under Kakheti Police Department detained G.T. (DoB in 1992) for illegal purchase, storage and carrying of firearms and ammunition in Telavi Municipality. During the personal search of the detainee, the police seized 3 firearms and 23 cartridges.
Employees of the district inspectors and Zugdidi district police divisions under Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti Police Department, at different times, arrested two persons - T.K. (DoB 1972) and G.D. (DoB1989).
The mentioned persons are accused of illegal purchase and storage of firearms and ammunition.
In one of the villages of Mestia municipality, during the search of TK's house, the law enforcers found automatic firearm, a magazine and 30 cartridges, and in Zugdidi, during the search of GD's house, automatic firearm, 2 magazines and 75 cartridges were seized as evidence.
The officers of Khoni District Division of Imereti, Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti Police Department detained Z.Ch., (DoB 1979) in Khoni on the same charges. Police, during the search activities held in the detainee’s house and auxiliary storage, seized Makarov firearm, 2 magazines and 99 cartridges.
The committed crime envisions from 3 to 7 years of imprisonment.
The facts of illegal purchase, storage and carrying of firearms and ammunition are investigated under Article 236, III and IV parts of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
