The officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as a result of complex operative-search and investigative activities, seized illegal firearms and ammunition in different regions of the country. A total of 10 people have been detained on charges of illegal purchase and storage of firearms and ammunition.
The officers of Telavi District Division of Kakheti Police Department detained previously convicted K.R. (DoB 1962) in Telavi. Police seized an unregistered small-caliber rifle as evidence during the search of his residential house, yard and storage facility.
The officers of Samtskhe-Javakheti Police Department detained P.E. (DB 1944), in Akhalkalaki. During the search of the detainee's house, the police seized a “TT” pistol, a magazine and 11 ammunition cartridges as evidence.
As for I.I.(DoB1983), he was detained by Marneuli District Division of Kvemo Kartli Police Department for illegal purchase and storage of firearms. During the search of the farm belonging to the accused person, held on the basis of the relevant court decision, the law enforcers seized a firearm of "Mosin" as evidence.
Marneuli District Division detained several times convicted in past for various offences - M.M. (DoB1977). As a result of his personal search, policemen seized a pistol as evidence.
The officers of Martvili District Division of Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti Police Department detained E.N. (DoB1957) in one of the villages of Martvili district. Police seized an automatic firearm, two magazines and 83 cartridges as evidence in a wooden storage located in his residential house.
The officers of Mestia Police Division arrested G.F. (DoB1997). During the search of detainee’s vehicle, police seized automatic firearms, a rifle, 1 magazine and 13 ammunition cartridges as evidence.
Another accused - G.Ch. (DoB 1982) was detained by the officers of Mestia Police Division in one of the villages of Mestia. Police seized automatic weapon, 1 magazine, 23 cartridges and a rifle as evidence during a search activities held in detainee’s residential house.
The officers of Adjara Police Department detained previously convicted Z.G. (DoB1987) in Batumi. During the personal search of Z.G. law enforcers seized 2 pistols, 2 magazines and 16 ammunition cartridges as evidence.
As for previously convicted G.Ts. (DoB1986) he was detained by Kobuleti District Division in Kobuleti. As a result of search activities held in his residential house police seized a Makarov pistol, magazine and 7 ammunition cartridges as evidence.
Also, previously convicted - L.Ts. (DoB1992) was detained by Mtskheta Mtianeti Police Department on similar charges.
During the search of the detainee's car, the law enforcers seized 2 Kalashnikov automatic firearms and magazines as evidence.
The committed crime envisions from 3 to 7 years of imprisonment.
Investigation on the listed facts of illegal purchase, storage and carrying of firearms and ammunition is underway under article 236, parts - III, IV and VI of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
