The officers of Isani-Samgori Police Main Division under Tbilisi Police Department solved the fact of armed robbery committed against the Bank of Georgia Express branch located in Africa settlement, Tbilisi. As a result of operative-investigative activities the law enforcers detained two persons with previous convictions: D.B. (DoB 1992) and G.J.(DoB 1992).
The committed crime envisions from 6 to 9 years or lifetime imprisonment.
The investigation established that the accused persons, armed with automatic weapons and pistols, broke into the express branch of the “Bank of Georgia” in Tbilisi on April 1, of the current year. Under the threats and pressure of weapons, the cashier-operator was robbed during which a security police officer opened fire against the assailants with the purpose of preventing a crime.
Both attackers received non-grave injuries, however managed to leave the bank area, got into a nearby car and threatened the driver with a firearm, forcing him to take them to a particular address.
In the course of investigation, the law enforcers managed to identify and locate the attackers within a few hours. Police arrested both of them shortly after the incident, as a result of immediate police activities.
At the scene of the arrest, during the search of the shed of the apartment, the weapons of crime were seized, and a part of illegally appropriated cash taken from the bank which was detected in the vehicle by which the attackers left the scene.
The investigation is in progress under Article 179, Part II, Subparagraph “B”, Article 236, Parts III and IV of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which stipulates armed robbery committed in group and illegal purchase, storage and carrying of firearms.
