The employees of Marneuli Police Division of Kvemo Kartli Police Department under the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as a result of operative-search measures and investigative actions, arrested three persons on the facts of group assistance in extorting a large amount of cash and attempting to damage other’s property. The detainees are - R.A. (DoB 2000), previously convicted F. b. (DoB 2002) and M.E. (DoB 2001).
The committed crime envisions up to 9 years of imprisonment.
The investigation established that the defendants at different times living abroad, upon the instructions of the criminal authority, in the municipality of Marneuli, demanded citizens to pay a large amount of money under the threat of taking their lives and destroying their property. After receiving the refusal, R.A. used the so-called Molotov cocktail against one citizen to destroy his vehicle and defendants also sent a letter of threat and threw 3 cartridges into the yard of another citizen.
Law enforcement officers arrested all three persons.
The police seized the cartridges as evidence.
The investigation of the incident is being conducted under Articles 25-181 and 19-187 of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
