The Officers of the Central Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs detained 4 people for drug-related crimes in Tbilisi as a result of intensive and complex operative-investigative activities.
The committed crimes envision up to 20 years or lifetime imprisonment.
The officers of the Central Criminal Police Department, together with the Officers of the Customs Department of the Revenue Service, arrested a Brazilian citizen - F.S. (DoB1993) in Tbilisi. The detention of the mentioned person was carried out in collaboration with members of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and the World Customs Organization (WCO) Container Control Program.
The investigation established that F.S. was smuggling up to 1 kg. of cocaine, hidden in his body, into Georgia through Tbilisi International Airport. 80 packages of the "Cocaine" drug were seized as evidence by police.
The law enforcers prevented the fact of illegal sale of drugs through Internet in Tbilisi and seized drugs placed in different places in the capital for further realization.
The officers of the Main Division for Combating Drug Trafficking under the Central Criminal Police Department arrested members of an organized criminal group for drug-related crimes. Detainees are 3 foreign nationals: V.T. (DoB1995), A.N. (DoB 1988) and E.D. (DoB 1996).
The investigation established that the defendants wrapped drugs in small bundles, placed them in various addresses in Tbilisi, and sold them through one of the Internet platforms.
During the personal search and search activities held in detainees’ residential houses, the police seized up to 250 grams of methadone-containing drugs and cash as well "methadone" drug placed by the accused persons at different locations for further realization.
Investigations into illegal purchase, storage and the attempted sale of drugs in especially large quantities, as well as illegal import of drugs into Georgia are in progress under Articles 260, 19-260 and 262 of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
