The Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Nino Tsatsiashvili took part in the event "Women's Empowerment Forum 2021".
The Women's Empowerment Forum was organized by USAID / PROLoG in cooperation with the Gender Equality Council of the Parliament of Georgia.
Nino Tsatsiashvili noted at the forum that protection of women's rights and protection against gender-based discrimination is a priority for the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and discussed the progress and challenges achieved by the Ministry in this direction.
The Deputy Minister stressed that women's rights and challenges in this regard are related to such topical issues as: domestic violence, gender-based violence against women, sexual harassment, child marriage, which is a serious violation of the rights of women and young females.
Nino Tsatsiashvili reviewed the tendencies of police reporting and the importance of participating in public awareness raising events. She also focused on the role of the ministry, noting that despite the challenges, the agency must be able to effectively protect women's rights.
The Deputy Minister paid special emphasis to capacity building of law enforcement officers, and current trainings held for this purpose.
Nino Tsatsiashvili expressed gratitude to all the partner and donor organizations with which the law enforcement system has achieved tangible progress.
