The present report provides an in-depth analysis of capacity strengths and gaps related to disaster risk reduction (DRR) in Georgia, based on a tested methodology developed by the Capacity for Disaster Reduction Initiative (CADRI). The assessment was carried out in March-September 2014 by the Government of Georgia, UN Country Team in Georgia and CADRI. The findings of the assessment are structured according to the five Priorities for Action identified in the Hyogo Framework for Action (HFA): national and local ownership for DRR; risk identification, assessment, monitoring and early warning; knowledge, innovation and induction for a culture of resilience; reducing underlying risk factors; and disaster preparedness for effective response.The present report provides a set of capacity development recommendations which will form the basis for the development of the National Plan of Action for Capacity Development in Disaster Risk Reduction.
