The Migration Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs deported 91 citizens of different countries from Georgia in November-December of the current year. Some of the foreign citizens left Georgia voluntarily, while others were deported from the country as a result of measures taken by the Migration Department.
Based on the relevant legislation, citizens of Iran, Algeria, India, Morocco, Sri Lanka, Egypt, Pakistan, Nigeria, Iraq, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Russia, Turkmenistan and other countries were deported from the country in November-December of the current year.
Among the deportees, the deportation procedure has been initiated against by the Migration Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, are those citizens of foreign countforeigners who participated in the ongoing protests in Tbilisi in November-December period of the current year and were imposed various administrative fines by the court - 25 persons in total. Out of them, 10 foreign citizens have already left the territory of Georgia.
According to the data of 2024, the Migration Department deported a total of 430 foreign nationals from the country, which is 126% higher than the results of the previous year.
The Migration Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs is the body responsible for the fight against illegal migration within the country. One of its competences is the identification of citizens of foreign countries who reside in Georgia without a legal basis and their deportation from the country.
