The employees of Chiatura police Division under Imereti Police Department and of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as a result of joint operational measures and investigative actions, detained previously convicted several times and currently on probation - V.K. (DoB 1989) for extortion.
The committed crime envisions up to 4 years of imprisonment.
The investigation established that the accused person, by using his criminal authority, extorted different amounts of cash from Sh.G. on the regular basis - an entrepreneur residing in Chiatura Municipality.
In March of the current year, the accused person again demanded payment of a certain amount of cash from the entrepreneur, and after receiving the refusal, threatened Sh.G. with liquidation as well as his family members and with physical retribution, to make his threat more evident, he demonstrated an object similar to a firearm.
The investigation into the fact of extortion is being conducted under Article 181, Part I of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
