Officers of Guria police department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs along with Ozurgeti Prosecutor’s office, as a result of operative-investigative activities detained four previously convicted persons on the basis of the respective court decision- V.K. (DoB 1989), L.K. (DoB 1991), V.B. (DoB 1985) and Z.M. (DoB 1985) for membership of the “Thieves’ World”.
Committed crime envisages from 7 to 10 years of imprisonment.
Investigation established that on February 10, 2020 resident of Shroma village- M.Kh. was forced by the members of the “Thieves’ World” to pay certain amount of cash in favor of the “Thief in Law” –G.K. (currently in prison).
Detainees demanded from the victim to transact cash in the amount of 18 000 GEL in support of criminal activities
As a result of persistent pressure against the victim and criminal skirmishes the citizen was finally forced to transact 10 000 GEL in favor of the “Criminal World”.
In the course of the search activities held in apartments of the detained persons, police officers seized mobile phones and computer technic by means of which communicated with others.
Investigation is in progress on the fact of membership of the “Thieves’ World”- article 2231 I part.
Ministry of Internal Affairs continues operative-investigative activities in order to identify and detain other individuals involved in the mentioned case.
