Another meeting of the Coordination Headquarters was held to eliminate the problems caused by heavy snowfall in Guria region. The meeting, which was attended by Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Internal Affairs - Vakhtang Gomelauri, representatives of the Cabinet of Ministers and various agencies, summarized the works carried out throughout the day.
Among other important issues, the meeting focused on road cleaning works and it was noted that the main part of the highways in the region has been completely cleared of snow and cleaning works on the main roads of various villages are actively in progress.
In addition, it was noted at the working meeting that as a result of intensive measures taken by the relevant services, the provision of utility services to a large part of the population of Guria region has been restored. Electricity is being supplied to an additional 2,069 subscribers without interruption, and as for the issue of water supply to the population, there is no longer a problem with water supply in Chokhatauri and Ozurgeti municipalities.
The meeting emphasized the importance of the involvement of the border police helicopter in the process effective elimination of problems caused by heavy snowfall.
The helicopter of the Border Police Aviation, which was involved in the work as soon as the meteorological conditions improved, is participating in rescue operations as needed, including ensuring the delivery of basic necessities and food to the population.
Units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, together with the Defense Forces and representatives of other agencies, with all relevant special equipment, remain in Western Georgia and continue their work.
