Minister of Internal Affairs Giorgi Mgebrishvili held meeting with the heads of regional police departments and leadership of various MIA units.
At the meeting preventive activities defined by the Law on Police, action plan for the Election Day and other issues were discussed in order to reduce risks and ensure peaceful and free environment during elections.
“Ministry of Internal Affairs will make maximum effort to ensure that the election period will be held in a peaceful and secure environment this year. We, according to the law, will adequately respond to any misdemeanor from any political party to ensure that all citizens of our country are free to make their choice. The police are apolitical and retain the principle of neutrality. It was like I mentioned during the pre-election period and so will be on the Election Day. Herewith, in order to make police work more efficient, we move to the emergency regime. However, obviously, no policemen will have a problem to go to the elections and make a choice”,-stated Minister of Internal Affairs at the meeting.
