German side focused on successful law enforcement cooperation with Georgia.
The working visit of Mr. Giorgi Mghebrishvili, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia to the Federal Republic of Germany is concluded.
Within the frames of the visit the Minister of Internal Affairs along with the Georgian delegation visited three Federal Lands of the Federal Republic of Germany such as Saxony, Hessen and Baden-Wurttemberg. Mr. Giorgi Mghebrishvili met Mr. Markus Ulbig, the Interior Minister of the Federal Land of Saxony, Mr. Thomas Strobl, the Interior Minister of the Federal Land of Baden-Wrttemberg and Mr. Peter Beuth, the Interior Minister of the Federal Land of Hessen.
At the meeting the sides discussed specific plans and directions aimed at strengthening police cooperation between Georgia and Germany. Mr. Giorgi Mghebrishvili familiarized his German counterparts with successful law enforcement reforms implemented within the frames of visa liberalization and introduced future projects of the Ministry.
The Interior Ministers of the Federal Lands stressed that stemming from the principle of the federal system of the country, the decision of the Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia personally visit certain federal lands with the purpose of getting familiarized with the existing situation and deepening future cooperation is especially important.
Within the frames of the visit of Mr. Giorgi Mghebrishvili the “Memorandum of Understanding” between Georgia and three Interior Ministries of the Federal Lands was signed, which envisage development of partnership and police cooperation in the field of fight and prevention of crime.
The Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia invited his German counterparts with an official visits to Georgia.
Cooperation with the law enforcement agencies of Georgia is an exemplary practice – said Dr Emily Haber, the Deputy Federal Minister of the Interior at the official meeting with the delegation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia. According to him, the law enforcement cooperation in many areas, and especially in the field of fight against organized crime is success.
