Giorgi Mghebrishvili introduced the current reform in the Emergency Situations Management Agency of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia and noted that the Georgian side attaches great importance to civil defense on national as well as on international level. Therefore, the Ministry of Internal Affairs pays great attention to the development of emergency situations management sphere, within legal and institutional frameworks, as well as sharing the best foreign experience and raising staff knowledge and qualification in the direction of rescue operations.
At the meeting Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia has discussed the 5-year program of unification, standardization and modernization of the Emergency Management Agency of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, aimed at the development of the Ministry's capabilities for disaster preparedness, response and prevention. According to Giorgi Mgebrishvili, the MIA has already created an inter-agency working group that will develop the program with the assistance of local and EU experts.
Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia has also introduced David Tonyan to the current and planned projects, including high-tech and multifunctional Joint Operations Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, which provides efficiency, operative response to crime and improving the quality of investigation.
Giorgi Mgebrishvili also highlighted the international training program of the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, within the frames of which the joint training of the regional and neighboring countries law enforcement agencies will be conducted on various strategic issues.
