Minister of Internal Affairs Giorgi Mgebrishvili held meeting with Ambassador of Netherlands to Georgia Johannes Duma.
At the meeting close and fruitful cooperation between the law enforcement agencies was outlined. Special emphasis was made on the successful operational cooperation which is being implemented with the involvement of the police liaison officer from the National Police of Netherlands.
Minister of Internal Affairs discussed future cooperation plans with law enforcement agencies of Netherlands within the frames of Europol. According to him – “Georgia will have an opportunity to further enhance cooperation with law enforcement agencies of EU states in the field of the fight against crime and share information through a secure channel”.
As it was stated by Giorgi Mgebrishvili, Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs is planning to send liaison officer to Hague, to ensure unhindered, fast and effective cooperation with law enforcement Agencies of Netherlands.
Minister of Internal Affairs acquainted ambassador of Netherlands with reforms, recently implemented at the Ministry of Internal Affair, including multifunctional and high-tech Joint Operational Center as well as priorities of criminal police reforming, community policing and analysis-based police activities.
At the meeting sides outlined that under conditions of active globalization, it is important to elaborate joint approach and methodology to endure the effectiveness of the fight against crime. Giorgi Mgebrishvili also acquainted trainings and projects of MIA Academy to the guest within the frames of which joint trainings are planned to be held on various strategic issues with foreign law enforcement agencies of the neighbor countries.
Giorgi Mgebrishvili, on behalf of the Ministry of Internal Affairs thanked the Ambassador for the support and contribution made in Georgia’s Euro integration process.
