Minister of Internal Affairs Giorgi Mgebrishvili met with MIA employees who participated and won in “World Police and Fire Games 2017” and congratulated them with victory. Minister awarded Georgian sportsmen with medals for “Exceptional Merits”.
“Today I awarded employees of the Ministry, who won 6 gold and 8 silver medals at the “World Police and Fire Games 2017”. They were the best among thousands of participants from more than 80 countries, Georgian sportsmen made police and whole country to be proud of them.
I believe that our sportsmen will make us proud many times with their success. Their achievements are very important for promoting healthy lifestyle, which is actively supported by the Ministry”-stated Minister of Internal Affairs.
11 employees of various MIA Departments participated in “World Police and Fire Games 2017” held in Los Angeles and won 6 gold and 8 silver medals.
Gold medal owners: free wrestling-Ioseb Khutsishvili, Luka Kurtanidze and Beldukh Gavashelishvili, weight-lifting-Levan Giligashvili and vasil Mindorashvili, swimming-Giorgi Samarghanishvili.
Silver medal owners: swimming-Giorgi Berdzenishvili (4 silver medals), boxing-Eduard Imerlishvili, weight-lifting -Koba Kobakhidze, Judo-Nodar Mtchedlishvili and Aleqsi Davitashvili.
“World Police and Fire Games 2017” is traditionally held every two years in different countries. Thousands of active and former police officers from around 80 countries participate in the event and compete in up to 70 sports types.
