Mr. Giorgi Mghebrishvili, the Minister of Internal Affairs met German journalists during their visit to Georgia.
The parties talked about Georgia-Germany’s close relationship at the meeting, including the successful cooperation between the law enforcement structures of the both countries.
The Minister of Internal Affairs introduced the results of his first working visit to Berlin and the Federal Lands of Germany to the press tour participants.
Mr. Giorgi Mghebrishvili paid special attention to the significance of international police cooperation in combat organized and transnational crime. As the Minister emphasized, "we have to confront our principled position to a crime. My German colleagues know well that from our part they have operational, reliable partners, who will provide with comprehensive information at any time, within the shortest period of time. Information is the main tool in the fight against crime. "
Mr. Giorgi Mghebrishvili talked about the successful implementation of the EU Visa Liberalization Action Plan, as well as close cooperation between the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Europol and provided German journalists with the detailed information about the activities of the MIA police attaches in the EU countries. As it was mentioned at the meeting, Georgia has concluded international agreement on cooperation in combat crime with EU 15 countries from 28 ones.
The Minister of Internal Affairs introduced the reforms implemented in the last period in the Ministry as well as the planned reforms, such as analysis oriented police, creation of the DNA databases, reform of the Central Criminal Police and the traffic safety program.
At the meeting German Journalists emphasized the successes achieved by Georgia on the path to European integration, including the implementation of the significant reforms.
