Mr. Giorgi Mgebrishvili, the Minister of Internal Affairs met the members of the judo sport club of the MIA “Fighter”. A few days ago the club members won the gold and bronze medals in the prestigious tournament in Paris "Grand Slam" where they participated on behalf of Georgian National Team.
The MIA’s judo sport club is the champion of Europe. The “Fighter” won the "Golden League" in December, 2015 in the European Club Championship highest tournament. The MIA’s team is the first in Georgian judo history to win this highest-ranking tournament cup.
The Minister of Internal Affairs personally congratulated the athletes on the victory; he talked about the future plans, expressed the support and awarded with the memorable gifts. For their part, the judokas made a symbolic present to the Minister - judo kimono.
The MIA’s judo sport club “Fighter” was founded in May, 2014 with the support of the Security Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The majority of the members are the judokas of Georgian national Team. They have won numerous world championships and the international tournaments.
The MIA’s judokas shall compete in the world's first Club Championship and "Rio 2016" Olympics this year.
