The Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia Giorgi Mgebrishvili met with the Minister of Interior of the Kingdom of Spain Juan Ignacio Zaodo Alvarez.
The Ministers of Georgia and Spain discussed the importance of deepening international police cooperation and discussed the priority directions of development of successful partnership between the two countries’ law enforcement agencies.
As it was noted at the meeting, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia and Spain have signed important international agreements which results into the effective cooperation. Parties particularly underlined the fruitful operation of the Georgian police attache in Spain and successful operations jointly carried out by the Central Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia and the Spanish National Police.
The sides discussed the prospect of deepening cooperation of the Georgian Special tasks Department in the FIEP (Association of European and Mediterranean Gendarmeries and Police Forces with Military Status).
Giorgi Mghebrishvili and Juan Ignacio Zeido Alvarez discussed the issue of mutual recognition of driving licenses based on the principle of reciprocity, which enables citizens of Georgia and the Kingdom of Spain use their driver licenses issued by the competent authorities of their countries in Georgia without additional formalities.
At the end of the meeting, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Spain invited his Georgian counterpart to Madrid and received a welcome invitation from Tbilisi as well.
