Minister of Internal Affairs within the frames of the official visit held meeting with the head of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Vernon Keenan at the headquarters of Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
At the meeting sides discussed problems existing in the law enforcing sphere of the two countries, challenges and solutions they also shares professional experience.
Minister of Internal Affairs reviewed recently implemented reforms held within the agency and prospects for further development. “Training of the officers is among priority issues to me. Intensive training is one of the main conditions for effective development of the agency. I hope that our cooperation will become more intensive. In order to successfully overcome challenges faced by the world, we should act together, share information and experience on the regular basis”-stated Minister Mgebrishvili.
According to Vernon Keenan- “Priorities of the Georgian Minister of Internal Affairs coincide with our vision. Our experience shows that education is the precondition for the progress. I would especially like to point out that Georgia is an important strategic partner for the United States which is proved by our cooperation. We, police officers share common challenges, think, act identically and therefore exchange of information and experience is utterly important for our effective work”.
Official meeting was also attended by those experts who took part in the training program aimed for the Georgian police officers. They also plan to continue cooperation in the future.
Georgia Bureau of Investigation is actively involved in the programs implemented by INL. Georgia Bureau of Investigation has already sent more than 30 instructors to Georgia who have already trained more than 350 police officers.
