Minister of Internal Affairs Giorgi Mgebrishvili arrived to Borjomi municipality and got familiarized with the recent situation on the ground. Minister of Internal Affairs, together with the governor of Samtskhe-Javakheti region – Akaki Matchutidze viewed the areal of fire from the helicopter and arrived to the territory where fire fighters are currently conducting fire-extinguishing activities.
On August 20 of the current year, the fire broke out on the slope of the mountain located near to Daba village, Borjomi municipality. Teams of the fire-fighters of the MIA Emergency Situations Management Agency immediately got involved in the fire localization activities along with the employees of National Forestry Agency. Border Police helicopter was also actively involved in fire-extinguishing activities.
Due to the difficult relief fire-fighting technic could not reach the fire sources, prompting the fire-fighters to make the new road from the side of Kvibisi village,which enabled special technic to be brought in the epicenter of the fire.
Up to 200 fire-fighters were involved in fire extinguishing works throughout the night. No one is injured as a result of the fire.
At this moment, the fire has been localized. Fire-extinguishing activities are still in progress.
