Mr. Giorgi Mghebrishvili, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia within the frames of a working visit had a meeting with Mr. Thomas Strobl, the Interior Minister of the Federal Land of Baden-Wrttemberg, in Stuttgart.
At the meeting the parties discussed the issues of development of police cooperation between the law enforcement agencies of Georgia and Germany.
The Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia said that he attaches great importance to bilateral relations with German colleagues.
"Since Germany is a Federal country, relations with the law enforcement structures of the federal lands, familiarization with the existing situation, sharing experience and exchange of information is of great importance. An offense committed in Germany even by one citizen of Georgia is a problem of our country and damages its image. Therefore, within the frames of bilateral cooperation, we do our best to overcome this problem. We need to identify the priorities, common problems and ways of solving them, "- said Mr. Giorgi Mghebrishvili. For this purpose, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia has already met with the Interior Ministers of 6 Federal Lands of Germany.
For his part, Mr. Thomas Strobl highly assessed the cooperation with the law enforcement agencies of Georgia in particular in the field of investigation and expressed readiness to further deepen the existing relations.
The parties agreed to strengthen preventive measures for fight against crime as well as systematic exchange of information and working groups.
At the end of the meeting Mr. Giorgi Mghebrishvili and Mr. Thomas Strobl signed the “Memorandum between the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia, the Interior Ministry of the Federal Land of Baden-Wrttemberg and the Ministry of Migration”, which envisages development of partnership and police cooperation between the relevant agencies in the field of fight and prevention of crime.
