The Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia Giorgi Mghebrishvili joined the Prime Minister and other members of the Government to attend a festive reception on board U.S. 6th Fleet command and control ship USS Mount Whitney (LCC 20) in Batumi.
Giorgi Kvirikashvili commented the US vessel’s entrance into the Georgian territorial waters as yet another demonstration of the United States’ steady support to security and stability in the Black Sea Region. The Head of Georgian Government stated that the visit aimed at enhancing the naval capabilities of the US regional partners with a focus on provision of the security and stability in the area.
USS Mount Whitney had made a port call in Batumi on October 12. The American crew members were welcomed by the Georgian Coast Guard Authorities.Training in law of naval operations was conducted. U.S. 6th Fleet command and control ship USS Mount Whitney (LCC 20) conducted a search and rescue exercise with the Georgian Coast Guard.
The crewmen of USS Mount Whitney and personnel of the MIA Border Police Coast Guard Department played a friendly match in football.
