Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia, Mr. Giorgi Gakharia held a meeting with Mr. Toivo Klaar, EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the crisis in Georgia.
At the meeting, the parties discussed security challenges in the region and agreed on deepening bilateral cooperation in this regard.
During the meeting, Giorgi Gakharia emphasized the security challenges and an existing humanitarian situation in the occupied territories. The Minister underlined the problem of illegal restriction of free movement on the occupation line by the occupying forces and the challenges associated with the illegal detention of the local population on the so-called charges of border crossing.
At the meeting, the parties focused on the effective functioning of the National Security Council of Georgia and cooperation with the office of EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the crisis in Georgia.
