Mr. Giorgi Gakharia, the Vice-Premier, Minister of Internal Affairs met with members of the business association of Georgia in hotel "Radisson". The event was organized by the initiative of association members. The meeting, which was attended by majority of the Association members was conducted in question-answer format.
The Minister of Internal Affairs responded to all questions actual for the businessmen. Mr. Giorgi Gakharia talked about the ongoing reforms of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as well as the importance of security and law enforcement in business development.
"The balance between liberty, liberalism, law and order shall be found. This is the biggest challenge we face. Even if we do not want, it will still be a topic of public discussion and it is better to start the discussion in adequate conditions and the platform that will be more effective. We are open and ready to discuss all the issues that are relevant today for business as well as for citizens. In case we look conceptually, there are several very important sources of crime in the country today. The first and the most important - is the economic situation and social policy. This is the most important and the biggest source of crime. The second source of serious crime is the problem of culture and the third problem is drugs. These are 3 the most important sources of crime. The economic situation is the most important and the most complicated to solve. Consequently, under these challenges, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the law enforcement system should be at a very high level. After zero tolerance, the complex has emerged that whether you want it or not you have to be the most humane in the world. Exactly here, we have to find this balance. Neither business should be afraid of the meeting with the Minister of Interior nor the Minister of Interior should have inadequacy complex to talk to business, because the challenges are of the country and these challenges are common" said Giorgi Gakharia.
