The Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia- Aleksandre Darakhvelidze, took part in a two-day international conference organized by the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) - "Involving Children's Rights Issues in University Education Programs and Curriculum".
The aim of the conference was to provide an appropriate space for teaching and learning about children's rights and to enable future professionals apply the obtained knowledge in everyday life.
The Deputy Minister briefed the conference participants on the measures taken by the agency to ensure that the juvenile justice process is transparent and in full compliance with the law including activities implemented by the Ministry of Internal Affairs in this regard, namely, with regard to activities carried out by the Academy in the field of teaching juvenile justice issues. As well as on the activities carried out by the Human Rights and Quality Investigation Monitoring Department for the protection of the best interests of juveniles in the administration of justice.
In addition, the Deputy Rector of the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs- Temur Maghradze, made a presentation for the conference participants on the textbook, curriculum and planned activities of the Academy on juvenile justice.
The conference was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, professors and students, representatives of government and judiciary, members of parliament, representatives of the Public Defender, non-governmental organizations, diplomatic corps accredited in Georgia, UN agencies and other international organizations, as well as teachers and school administrators.
