Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, Aleksandre Darakhvelidze participated in the conference organized by the Schools, Community and Police Engagement Program (SCOPE).
SCOPE is funded by the U.S. State Department’s Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL).
The purpose of the program is to prevent crime among juveniles and raise awareness on legal issues. The aim of the conference was to review the implemented activities and achieved results.
Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs delivered the opening remarks. As Aleksandre Darakhvelidze noted, the priority for the Ministry of Internal Affairs is to ensure crime prevention. Accordingly, a number of preventive police measures are being carried out in this direction, in order to prevent criminal offenses in a timely manner. Therefore, it is important for the Ministry to participate in similar programs that are preventing crime among juveniles and raising awareness on legal issues.
The participants of the meeting were also addressed by the Head of the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL), Sarah Rupert, and, the Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Tamar Makharashvili.
At the conference, within the framework of SCOPE Program, the Memorandum of Understanding was signed by the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, Aleksandre Darakhvelidze and Deputy Minister of Education and Science, Tamar Makharashvili.
At the end of the conference, the law enforcement officers were awarded with the certificates.
