United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and International Center for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) have launched implementation of the `Integrated Border Management for South Caucasus` project since March 2010 funded by EU. Partners of the project are the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia and relevant agencies of other countries.
Overall objectives of the project are development/strengthening inter-agency cooperation among South Caucasus countries, EU member states and other interested parties; passenger movement and cargo shipment facilitation; and securing border safety.
Specific goals of the project:
• strengthening of the potential for strategic development of the border;
• development and introduction of procedures and operations at the border check-points;
• Ensuring the provision of the needed equipment at the border check-points for IBM introduction at the pivot level.
Duration of the project is 30 month and will end in September 2012.
