The Minister of Internal Affairs - Vakhtang Gomelauri, held a meeting with the leadership of the units of Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti Police Department in Zugdidi. The meeting was attended by Deputy Ministers - Giorgi Butkhuzi and Aleksandre Darakhvelidze.
At the meeting, the Minister of Internal Affairs reviewed the priority directions of the agency. During the meeting, Vakhtang Gomelauri received comprehensive information from the leadership of the regional police department on policing and preventive measures in the direction of the fight against crime. The sides also reviewed crime statistics and the rate of crime solving index in the region.
Vakhtang Gomelauri noted that the Ministry of Internal Affairs continues to improve both social and working conditions for police officers.
Within the framework of the regional visit, Vakhtang Gomelauri together with his deputies held a meeting with the leaders of the Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti Main Division of Patrol Police Department as well and the employees of the same division.
The leadership provided the Minister of Internal Affairs with information on the current situation in the direction regarding the public order protection and traffic safety in their area of operation.
The Minister of Internal Affairs gave the patrol-inspectors relevant instructions in order to ensure a safe environment for tourists and local vacationers in the region during the summer season.
Vakhtang Gomelauri expressed gratitude towards the law enforcement officers for preventing crime, as well as for ensuring law and order as well as security in the region.
