The Minister of Internal Affairs Vakhtang Gomelauri held a working meeting with the Minister of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Labor, Health and Social Affairs - Ekaterine Tikaradze at 112 regarding the coronavirus management process.
The ministers got acquainted with the working process in the Public Safety Management Center "112" of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the conditions of the global pandemic. "112" is actively involved in the management of the coronavirus and operates in emergency mode so that each citizen receives timely and qualified services.
"Today the number of operators has increased approximately three times, compared to the usual conditions, operators are working in tripled mode. Today 300 operators are working 24 hours a day. We will add 140-150 more operators in the next week, in a maximum of 10 days. Lines will no longer be as overloaded as today and more operators will serve our citizens.
As I have already mentioned, the number of operators has been increased three times as well as the operation mode of 112. We are going to purchase additional equipment due to the fact that existing lines are overloaded and therefore, we decided to further enhance our 112 server capacities”, – stated Vakhtang Gomelauri.
"112" obtained additional, important function in the process of managing the coronavirus. Any citizen is eligible to call 112 in case of having any symptoms specific to the Coronavirus and/or if the virus is confirmed. Messages related to the virus are classified according to the healthcare protocol by the operators, directing acute cases to the emergency medical center, while milder ones - to family doctors.
"Today we’ve activated additional measures, which will not be limited only by visiting "112" center, but we will also continue to communicate with representatives of those patients who have been accommodated in hotels. We will also continue our daily meetings with hospital representatives and clinic managers. These meetings will be held to eliminate the existing shortcomings, which hinders the operation of ambulance doctors from hospitalizing the patients in a timely manner”, - stated Ekaterine Tikaradze.
With the increased number of infection and citizen testing, the workload of 112 has increased as well. Taking into consideration the increase of emergency calls, the number of 112 operators has been increased the backup shifts have switched to a full work schedule and new staff has been added to the call center.
