Temur Mghebrishvili, head of the Emergency Situations Management service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, made a summary comment to the media from the disaster zone.
According to him, liquidation works will continue throughout the night.
"Liquidation works are currently underway. Throughout the day, clean-up works were carried out on the roads where landslides occurred.
We try to reach villages where people might need our help. Work will continue throughout the night. During the day, 200 firefighters were involved in the operation. Boats, drones and K-9 service were engaged in the search operation.
At the moment, there are certain locations where access by transport is not available, although we reached every citizen while moving on foot, we communicate both by phone and personally on the ground. In case of necessity, we will provide citizens with the product, or other necessary means, of course"- noted Temur Mghebrishvili.
At this stage, approximately 50 citizens have been transferred from the disaster area to a safe place. Three bodies were found, including two minors.
