The head of Emergency Situations Management Service - Temur Mghebrishvili, held a summary information briefing for the media on current developments in the disaster zone, rescue measures and provided answers to all media questions.
Temur Mgebrishvili, within the mandate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, reviewed the ongoing works aimed at eliminating the consequences of the natural disaster in Racha and the operation in general.
In the disaster zone of Oni municipality, the rescue operation is being carried out in round the clock for the eighth day. Police units, fire-rescuers of the Emergency Situations Management Service, K-9 unit experts, border police helicopters, drones and special equipment are involved in the operation held in disaster-affected zone as well as employees of the Ministry of Defense and the Department of Roads under the Ministry of Infrastructure.
At this stage, 21 bodies have been found by rescuers in the disaster zone – search measures of 12 missing people continue. More than 200 people have been transported to a safe place within the frames of the rescue operation.
