Temur Mghebrishvili- Head of Emergency Situations Management Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs- Health Minister Zurab Azarashvili, and Leri Barnabishvili- Head of the Regional Liaison Department at the Government Administration, together with the media representatives, visited the epicenter of the disaster zone, where the search and rescue operation is currently underway with the help of night vision equipment.
The rescue operation in the municipality of Oni, in the disaster area, is being held in round the clock regime, for the third day. Fire-rescuers of the Emergency Situations Management Service, police units, drones, special equipment and border police helicopters are involved in the operation. Herewith, K-9 unit of the Emergency Situations Management Service is involved in search activities.
So far, 17 bodies have been found by the rescuers. More than 200 people have been transported to a safe place in the course of the rescue operation.
