Police Working Group Meeting in the framework of Criminal Justice Reform in Georgia was held at the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The representatives of international organizations as well as local nongovernmental organizations involved in police reform process were invited for participation.
The meeting was opened by the director of International Relations Department, Mr. Shalva Kvinikhidze. The following issues were discussed at the meeting: Renewed Action Plan for Police part of Criminal Justice Reform; Data Protection issues at the Ministry of Internal Affairs; Fight against Illegal Migration implemented activities; Fight against Human Trafficking – implemented activities, etc.
Criminal Justice Reform is implemented in Georgia with the financial support of the EU since 2008. All law enforcement structures are involved in its implementation along with the Public Defenders’ office and international and nongovernmental organizations. The goal of Police Working Group is to review the reform processes in Police and elaborate recommendations.
