According to the Prime Minister’s instruction, the MIA helicopter started weekly flights to Tusheti. The helicopter transported first passengers - 17 locals from the Village of Alvani to the Village of Omalo. Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Davit Vardiashvili joined the first passengers.
Before a vehicle road has been surfaced, the MIA Helicopter will fly to high mountains once a week to transport locals along the border guards.
Omalo is located at an altitude of 1880 meters above sea level. Due to difficult geographic conditions and absence of roads, half the year the village is cut off from the rest of Georgia.
