Public Relations Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, in order to make Ministry’s official website fully accessible for disabled people, namely for blind or vision impaired citizens, created special voice version of the web page.
Aim of the project is to make information on the Ministry’s official website fully accessible for blind or vision impaired citizens. Web-page adaptation project for disabled citizens was elaborated by Public Relations Department of MIA and implemented along with Operative-Technical Department of the agency and members of “Blind Union of Georgia”- Beka Gozalishvili and Vladimer Urdulashvili. The project responds to challenges set by the “Open Government Partnership” (OGP) namely improvement of public service and accessibility of information, which is enlisted among commitments in 2014-2015 action plan of “Open Government Partnership”.
Intense cooperation with society is one of the priorities of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, which implies involvement of public in Ministry’s activities and enhancing credibility towards the agency. It is also important to amplify access to information in this direction and refinement of public service. Within the frames of the project the voice website- voice.police.ge was created. New information which will be posted on the official website of the Ministry will be automatically transferred to voice.police.ge. Newly created web page is operational for any browser. It is also notable that the mentioned project is unique and has no analogies in Georgia. Ministry of Internal Affairs is the first agency to create special website for blind or vision impaired persons.
