Six employees of the division for the Fight Against Illegal Migration and Trafficking under the Main Division for the Fight against Organized Crime of Central Criminal Police Department and four prosecutors from Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia participated in two-week specialized training course on trafficking issues organized by Regional Security Office, under US Embassy to Georgia (RSO) and Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL). The training was held at International Law Enforcement Academy (ILEA) Budapest, Hungary.
The training course aimed at enhancing opportunities in fighting against trafficking and was led by invited expert Paul Holmes. The training was dedicated to the following issues: Legal Issues in Fight Against Trafficking, Trafficking Victim Identification, Cooperation with Victim, Crime Prevention, Proactive Investigation, Victim Protection, Interrogation Techniques, Risk Evaluation, Management and Analysis, Specifics of Legal Persecution, Evidence Obtaining as well as Methods and Standards of Evaluation, Conducting Financial Investigation on Trafficking Issues, Basic Standards of International Law in Connection with Crime Investigation, International Cooperation among Law Enforcement Agencies. Practical examples were also discussed during the course and participants shared the experience.
The officers from Georgia, Kazakhstan and Serbia took part in the training course. Upon the end of the course, the participants were awarded with “Trafficking investigation course” certificates.
