Employees of the Migration Department participated in the meeting dedicated to the topic of gathering country of origin information which is organized with the support of International Center for Migration Policy Development. The meeting was hosted by the Polish representatives working in the relevant field. At the meeting the issue of returning migrants and gathering information on their countries of origin were discussed.
According to the Georgian law on “Legal Status of Foreigners and persons without citizenship” Migration Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs is responsible for detection of foreign citizens in Georgia without legal basis, conducting r postponing banishment in some of the cases. In the process of conducting such king of activities it is important to establish the country of origin and therefore experience received through such meetings as mentioned above will contribute to the fulfillment of activities defined by the law.
