Representatives of MIA and Prosecutors office attended training course on Prohibition of Discrimination in Batumi. Starting 2014 Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia is implementing project “Capacity Building of Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia to Ensure Adequate Human Rights Protection in Isolators of Temporary Detention through Trainings and Introduction of New Standards of Work” financed by the European Union. Trainings on Prohibition of Discrimination will be conducted in all regions of Georgia within the framework of above mentioned project. Course will be led by the trainers from MIA Academy, Public Defender’s office and General Prosecutor’s office. Trainees will get familiar with the issues like: Prohibition of Discrimination principle according to the European Convention on Human rights, the freedom to manifest religious beliefs, prohibition of torture, inhuman and degrading treatment, the right to privacy, hate crimes investigation techniques, etc. Employees of Ministry of Internal Affairs and Prosecutor’s office will participate in the seminar. Within the framework of this project, several activities were accomplished. One of them was training cycle on psychological issues, first aid techniques and how to treat persons with disabilities. Seminar was conducted for entire staff of the Temporary Detention Isolators. The aim of the project is to ensure/enhance adequate Human Rights Protection in Temporary Detention Isolators through trainings and introduction of new standards of work.
