The Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, the Archbishop of Mtskheta-Tbilisi and Metropolitan bishop of Abkhazia and Bichvinta, His Holiness and Beatitude Ilia II blessed the border guards of the MIA Border Police of Georgia at the Sameba Cathedral.
The Blessing ceremony was attended by the Head of the MIA Border Police of Georgia, General - Major Zurab Gamezardashvili and the agency representatives.
"Today Border Guards have been blessed by the Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, the Archbishop of Mtskheta-Tbilisi and Metropolitan bishop of Abkhazia and Bichvinta, His Holiness and Beatitude Ilia II. He wished border guards health, durability and protection of the Georgian territories. I would like to take this opportunity to also thank all my predecessors who made their contribution in strengthening border guards spiritually. They proved their steadiness multiple times and in case of necessity we are ready to put our lives for the territorial integrity and for the wellbeing of the citizens of Georgia”-stated Zurab Gamezardashvili.
