General Secretariat of Interpol granted equipment (MIND) to the employees of Patrol Police Department, who serve at ports of Georgia. Equipment includes Stolen and Lost Travel Documents database (SLTD) enabling to conduct inspection without the access to internet.
MIA employees, who fulfill their duties at ports, conduct inspection directly on vessels. Without internet and relevant infrastructure direct contact to (SLTD) database of Interpol was unavailable in past. In order to solve the mentioned problem, Georgian National Central Bureau of Interpol addressed with the request to General Secretariat of Interpol and thus, beginning from today, the access to the mentioned database has become available without internet by means of the received equipment.
Project of General Secretariat of Interpol “FIND” was successfully implemented by the Georgian bureau in September of the current year. Within the frames of the project SLTD database was integrated at all border checkpoints of Georgia.
The mentioned database contains more than 40 million notes. The mentioned base is being updated by Interpol member states on the regular basis and serves as effective mechanism against the fight with crime, especially taking into consideration the fact that lost travel documents are often applied by crime syndicates and terrorist groups.
