Director of Emergency Situations Management Agency of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Zviad Katsashvili participated in third UN Catastrophes Risk Mitigation Conference held in Sendai, Japan. Within the frames of the official visit Zviad Katsashsvili met the Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe and major of Ishimomak Hiroshi Kameama. At the meeting sides discussed challenges existing in their countries in the field of catastrophes’ risk mitigation and defined methods for solving them.
Director of the Agency also held meeting with Secretary General of International Civil Defence Organization (ICDO) Vladimir Kuvshinov and representatives of Humanitarian Aid and Civil Defence Directorate of European Commission. At the meeting sides discussed issues connected with Georgia’s Membership of the Executive Board, active involvement of Georgia in trainings and seminars as well as handing over humanitarian cargo to Emergency Situations Management Agency of Georgia.
In parallel with plenary sessions, Zviad Katsashvili participated in business meetings with his Azerbaijani, Belarusian, Kazakh, Armenian, Turkish, Jewish, Lithuanian and other colleagues. At the meeting sides reviewed perspectives of future cooperation.
By the end of the conference members of Georgian delegation met with Director of the Office of the UN Disaster Risk Reduction Adam Bolokos and discussed issues of future cooperation between the member states.
