MIA General Inspection, State Security Service and Patrol Police Department as a result of jointly held operative-searching and investigative activities have exposed the criminal scheme which envisaged traveling to European states through Tbilisi International Airport with fake passports.
According to the investigation, it was established that one of the organizers of the criminal scheme was the Turkish citizen Berkandt D. who with the assistance of other accomplices, in exchange for certain amount of cash ensured traveling of Iranian citizens to European countries with fake passports.
After paying the cash, members of the criminal group made fake passports for those who were willing to travel to European states, brought them to Georgia, and booked tickets to the direction of Europe and other European states.
Members of the criminal group provided the arrived individuals with fake passports at the airport. At Tbilisi International Airport Iranian citizens were registered on flights to Turkey and European states in parallel. Before crossing the border Berkandt D. put the stamp on boarding pass and fake passport which was given at the registration on the European flight, after which the mentioned persons submitted genuine Iranian passports at the border and once in the neutral zone, boarded the plane with fake passport with a fake stamp and boarding pass to the direction of certain European state. According to the criminal scheme flight to European state was due to take off, earlier than flight to Istanbul, owning to which employees of the aviation company were unable to detect the missing passenger.
After exposing the criminal scheme, general Inspection of the Ministry of Internal Affairs have foiled the attempted crossing of the border from the side of Iranian citizens, who tried to board the plane to European state instead of Turkey.
General Inspection at this stage detained Turkish citizen Berkandt D. for production, keeping and selling of fake stamp and travel document, under the article 362, I part of the Criminal Code. During the search held in detainee’s house policemen seized fake stamp and foreign passports. Law enforcers also detained Iranian citizen who used the mentioned, fake document.
Tbilisi city court has ruled the imprisonment against both of the detainees.
General Inspection also revealed that five citizens of Iran who were supposed to use the mentioned the criminal scheme.
Investigation is in progress in order to expose others involved the mentioned crime.
